Day 15, 2020 – Hometown Hero

Skeletons were thrilled to pay tribute today, to Stratford’s own Julia Notebomer – the youngest person to swim across Lake Erie.

Julia loves open water and swimming across Lake Erie has been a goal of hers.  She decided to attempt the swim and raise money for Make-a-Wish Foundation.

After her successful swim, she has been involved in public speaking and promoting her fundraiser – Waves for Wishes.

Looking strong Julia… you are almost there!

WOW!  It was the 3rd fastest time ever, in 6 hours, 26 minutes, and 38 seconds.

What an amazing young woman Julia is to accomplish this incredible feat.  She didn’t let a global pandemic and closed border stop her from achieving her dream.

She is the youngest person to swim Lake Erie as she did it on her 14th birthday – she will always keep this record!

Skeleton Skin-Ann was thrilled to play Julia in today’s antic!

Julia is showing Skin-Ann how it’s done!

I didn’t know there were sharks in Lake Erie!

Julia also raised over $27,000 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Southwestern Ontario, through her Wave for Wishes 2020 Campaign.

It is her desire to make dreams come true for sick kids.  This warms our bones!

The skeletons were thrilled to meet her personally and get her autograph on their T-Shirts!

Mayday!  Mayday!  My cheesy bread fell overboard!

Thank you to Julia and her family for today’s props for inspiring us to achieve our dreams.

Thanks also to Diane for setup this morning.
